The brief was to design a luxury, resort-style family home in Harare, a retreat to escape the hustle and bustle of the city.
The primary architectural statement is a central split in the building allowing nature to pierce and fuse the boundaries between outside and within. The translucency of the front central and back glass façades allows the character of the Villa to change throughout the day, providing different experiences as it is lit throughout the day. Heavy limestone clad walls are intended to complement and contrast the glass facades and anchor the Villa onto its surrounds, creating an overall well balanced sophisticated outcome.
